Trying to lose weight? Maybe you have tried everything and still no hope… quality sleep might be your answer. Ready?
Here’s a crazy fact for you!
“A study published in the journal, Sleep, found that sleeping under a bright light drove up insulin resistance—a risk factor for diabetes. When insulin can’t do its job, the body struggles to process sugar.”
This is only one of the many reasons why quality sleep is so important!
According to my good friend Shawn Stevenson’s book, Sleep Smarter, we have what he calls our ‘money time’ for sleep, which is between 10pm and 2am. This is the period where the most rejuvenating sleep occurs.
Here are some tips from both Shawn and myself to ensure you’re getting the BEST night’s sleep possible, every single time –
Tip #1 – Get to bed within a few hours of the sun going down.
Tip #2 – Get sunlight as soon as possible when you wake up.
Tip #3 – Create a consistent sleep schedule.
Tip #4 – Turn off electronics.
Tip #5 – Black out your room.
Fun fact: darkness eliminates the signal from our optic nerves to pump up cortisol and instead, signals the body to produce melatonin – exactly what’s needed for quality sleep!
Tip #6 – Superfoods for restful sleep.
Check out my buddy Shawn Stevenson’s book, Sleep Smarter for some amazing information and tips to get your sleep on track!
